Second Grade Hike May 19

I have been the room mom for Neleh's class this year aka the one who hosts every party and goes on every field trip. It has been great to spend time with Neleh. As the middle child she is often over looked. This was the last hurrah. Springville Art Museum and then the bus took them up the canyon for lunch and the walk back down to the school (a 3 mile trip!)

These are some bigger 2nd grade friends, BUT you can still see how tiny she is compared to them.
I had all the kids convinced that if they didn't make it back to the school they were going to be held back so they could do this again the next year. The idea of no 3rd grade, and repeating 2nd grade stopped the complaining and kept them moving! I know I am an EVIL mom...

Spring Break 2016

This year I made a theme to everyday of Spring Break. I left goodie bags on the table for the kids to find in the morning. Then they could guess what we were doing that day.

Swimming for Johnathen's Birthday
The new Star Wars hits Redbox so of course we have a Star Wars marathon!
House and Yard beautification Day! Neleh was the only one excited about this one..
Zoo Day with Grandma and Grandpa!
cute monkeys!See we all survived...

Cat Ninja

So we have had a mangy stray cat in our neighborhood. It keep s eating Kara's cat food and bugging her dog and cats. We thought it would just die soon because it looked so ragged and sickly. Well I get a call from Kara. "Can you come over to my parents (they live behind her) I caught the cat!" Of course I do what any BFF would do and I go help her! She has the dang thing trapped in the base of the basketball stand. She is holding a basketball over the hole with an angry cat trapped inside. Oh geez! So I take over the basketball holding so she can go get a cage to trap the cat in. Good Idea Right!? We set the cage over the hole so the cat can just jump in. It did. and back out into the basketball stand. And then back into the cage. So we hurried and slammed the cage door shut. Unfortunately it was not fast enough and we caught the cats leg and tail in the door. Fearing it would escape Kara slams the whole cage down on the ground pinning, half trapped cat in the cage door. Well crap. Now we have a very mad cat, in pain and half way trapped.....twinkle think....twinkle think. I will go grab a blanket to cover it up with so it can't see us, then we can just scoop it into the cage. First thing I can find is one of Kara's Dads shirts (thankfully Randy is a big guy) I run back outside and throw it over the cat who is now panting and seething. I reach for it's neck and it BITES ME!!! from under the shirt! I should mention I am in heals during this adventure. So I step on the cats neck so that the neck is safely in the arch of my heal. While Kara frees the cats backside and gets it into the cage. Our adrenaline was pumping! There was a wet, stinky slime line where the cats body was on the cement. That cat was gross. And it bit me! I bled my wound, washed it, peroxide, neosporine anything thing I could find to clean it out with! We saw one of "Mapletons Finest" (police) up the street so we went and asked him to come and get this sick animal. Of course he wondered how we caught a feral cat. So we told of our Heroic experience with all the details and proof of my injury. I am sure he thought we were nuts and went back to the station to have a good laugh at us. Now we wait to see if I start foaming at the mouth or having brain damage from rabies... That Damn Cat!
